Mission: Inspiring teachers to inspire their students!

ClasStars recognizes the effort made by teachers globally to connect deeply with, and find value in, each and every student. We know firsthand that teachers can be under appreciated and overburdened and so we believe that any tools that a teacher may use in the classroom should be as simple and intuitive as possible.

The most valuable resource in any classroom is the teacher. That’s why our mission at ClasStars was to create the perfect tool to help amplify every teacher’s superpower: their ability to connect with their students.

ClasStars’ interface makes it simple for teachers to collect information that will identify each student’s needs early on and in doing so prevent growing areas of concern. The innovative dashboards consolidate this data to help tell a story of development at not just the class wide level, but for each individual student. In this way teachers can always know who needs support and what kind of support will help produce the most desired results.

ClasStars enables educators to engage each student on a more personal level, ensuring that each student receives the attention they need – and deserve – to succeed.

Created with an advisory panel of educators, ClasStars allows teachers to keep track of their interactions (desirable or undesirable) with each student, allowing for a clear picture on each student’s behavior and progress – all with a swipe and a tap.

Moshe Fried

Moshe Fried, LCSW is the co-founder and CEO of ClasStars. For nearly two decades, Moshe has helped hundreds of kids and their parents work with their teachers to achieve highly effective outcomes. He has done this both in the school setting, and through his private practice. At the start of his career, Moshe realized that teachers were overburdened, and aside from burning out even the most dedicated teachers, students were being overlooked, and slipping through the cracks of the system.

One of his primary goals is to help teachers “notice” every child in a positive way, and establish good teacher-student relationships with their students. Drawing from research, experience, and common sense, that kids need a lot of encouragement, and that very often the students who need the encouragement the most, get it the least, Moshe was inspired to develop ClasStars, a tablet app that teachers have called a game-changer in classroom learning. The journey included collaborating with hundreds of educators across the globe for a decade, and in 2021 Moshe received the Top 100 Visionaries in Education award at the GFEL conference in Las Vegas, NV, for his outstanding vision and leadership. He is also the host of the ClasStars Podcast.

When Moshe is not working on ClasStars, he is working with families through his private practice, or spending time with his wife and children in Brooklyn, NY.

Sol Fried is a born and raised New Yorker. He received a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Science from Brooklyn College. He began his career working in Information Technology at the brokerage form of Merrill Lynch in 1984. In 1987 he joined the Investment firm of First Boston (which was later acquired by Credit Suisse), where he spent over three decades as a Software developer / analyst, and as a manager of global technical teams.

After being approached by his nephew, Moshe Fried LCSW, about his ideas for how to radically improve the teacher-student relationship, he was determined to use his 35 years of software experience to make a real difference in the lives of teachers and students worldwide. The two spent over 5 years studying the immense challenges, both practical and technical until arriving at a solution that would fundamentally improve the ability of teachers to really see and attend to each and every student.

They co-founded PNQ LLC, and in April 2019 he left Credit Suisse and as Chief Technology Officer, devoted himself to this project. Bringing a lifetime of experience in User Interface design, Software and Data engineering, he created ClasStars as an App that can be used on modern devices running iOS, Android or Windows.

In his free time, Sol is an avid amateur photographer and stays active by swimming and making sure to visit the gym daily.

He is a husband to the wife who has patiently supported his dream to embark on the ClasStars adventure. He is a father to two incredible women and a grandfather to five, aged 2 weeks to 21 years (as of December 2021).
